China Tour - The Wonders of the World

 

A splendid journey through the Middle Kingdom!

Arrival Beijing - Xian - Wuhan - Yichang - Yangtze River Cruise - Chongqing - Hangzhou - Shanghai - Guilin - Yangshou – Hong Kong Departure

 

Day 1: Beijing

Arrival and reception by your tour guide. You will get your first impressions of the sights in and around Beijing when you visit the Temple of Heaven . The temple, which dates back to 1420, symbolizes heaven and earth. At the winter solstice, the emperor climbed the altar of heaven to ask for a rich harvest in a solemn ceremony. You will then travel to your hotel. The rest of the day is at your leisure.

Day 2: Beijing

The day is free for you to spend as you wish. If you wish, you can enjoy the unique trip to the Great Wall and the Olympic Park including lunch.

Day 3: Beijing

In the morning, you will take a detailed tour of the Imperial Palace. But first, you will get to know the neighboring Tiananmen Square. Then you will walk to the Imperial Palace, also known as the "Forbidden City ," which is the largest and most important building in China. The 720,000 m2 complex is surrounded by a 10 m high purple wall.

Day 4: Beijing – Xian

Visit the Summer Palace in the morning. It is located just outside of Beijing and was originally a private garden divided into different areas. At 290 hectares, it is the largest park in China. In the afternoon, transfer to the airport and flight to Xian. Transfer to the hotel.

Day 5: Xian

The day is free for you to spend as you wish. If you wish, you can take a day trip to the world-famous "Terracotta Army" and the city wall including lunch.

Day 6: Xian – Wuhan

Train journey with the modern high-speed train CRH to Wuhan. Upon arrival, transfer to the hotel. In the afternoon, visit the Hubei Provincial Museum (closed on Mondays).

Day 7: Wuhan – Yichang

Bus ride to Yichang to your cruise ship. On the way, visit the old town and the museum in Jinzhou.

Overnight stay on your cruise ship.

Day 8-10: Yangtze cruise

Yangtze cruise: A new, fascinating world to discover! Experience the natural wonders of the Yangtze and travel into the three famous large gorges "Qutang", "Xiling" and "Wushan". The small bays with their bizarre rock walls, e.g. on the Shennong stream or on the Danning river, are reached by boat. Marvel at the largest dam in the world: the Three Gorges Dam with its 5-stage mega lock: an architectural wonder of the world! The bus ride to a viewing point with a view of the Three Gorges Dam in Sandouping is also one of the special highlights of your Yangtze cruise. Attention! Depending on the water level or for safety reasons, sightseeing points can be changed or omitted. The decision is made solely by your captain.

Day 11: Chongqing – Hangzhou

Arrival in Chongqing , disembarkation. Then transfer to the airport and flight to Hangzhou, capital of Zhejiang Province. "Paradise is above, but on earth it is Hangzhou." The pearl of the south on the Imperial Canal and West Lake was an imperial city and city of silk, tea, artists and scholars. This unique cultural landscape has a kaleidoscope of pagodas and pavilions waiting for you in the landscaped lakeside setting. Dams, pagodas and the Lingyin and Yuefei monasteries blend harmoniously into the landscape next to the picturesque West Lake.

Day 12: Hangzhou

The pride of Hangzhou is the West Lake. Numerous legends have been woven around this lake. Today, enjoy the beauty of the "Xihu" (West Lake) during a boat trip and a subsequent stroll through Huangang Park. In the afternoon, visit the Pagoda of Six Harmonies, whose name goes back to a Buddhist rule of life.

Day 13: Hangzhou – Shanghai

Drive to Longjing Village , where the best green tea (Dragon Well tea) in China comes from. There are many tea plantations and tea factories in the area. Then continue by bus to Shanghai. Shanghai, "across the sea", is the largest city in China and an "incredibly" prosperous trade and industrial center. If you want to see modern China, this city is a must! This mega-city of Asia is a lively city full of surprises: young and dynamic, but also old and traditional.

Day 14: Shanghai

The day is free. If you wish, you can take a trip to the old town, Yu Garden and the Jade Buddha Temple including lunch.

Day 15: Shanghai – Guilin

In the morning, stroll through the restored Tianzifang district in Shanghai, which was named after a Chinese painter. Artists and business people have settled here. Tianzifang has developed into one of the trendy attractions in the city. Afterwards, transfer to the airport and flight to Guilin.

Day 16: Guilin

Day at leisure. If you wish, you have the opportunity to take a Li River cruise including lunch (can be booked on site). Yangshuo is located in the middle of an enchanting natural landscape, is considered one of the most beautiful regions in China and is a popular travel destination because of its cone-shaped mountains and countless grottos.

Day 17: Guilin – Hong Kong

Transfer to the train station and train ride on the high-speed train. The route from Guilin to Hong Kong was reopened in 2018 (journey time approx. 3 hours and 20 minutes). Your local tour guide will greet you upon arrival in Hong Kong and accompany you to your hotel. The rest of the day is at your leisure.

Day 18: Departure

A half-day city tour of Hong Kong Island will bring you closer to the cosmopolitan city. The rest of the day is at your leisure for last-minute shopping. In the early evening, transfer to the airport and return flight.
